Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif says that the medical review petition was aimed at harassing and intimidating the honorable judge.
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif on Thursday ordered the withdrawal of the medical review petition against Chief Justice Faiz Isa of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister expressed regret that the Imran Khan government has harassed and slandered the family of Qazi Faiz Isa in the name of authority.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that the Federal Cabinet had already agreed to withdraw the authority in a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister.
The prime minister said: This was not a reference, but a victim of Imran Niazi's revenge against an impartial person in the path of the constitution and the law. He considered depriving the independence of the judiciary and creating internal division as an attack on the judiciary.
Shahbaz said that while they were in opposition, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and other coalition parties objected to the pointless gesture. The prime minister said that Imran Niazi had also asked the President of Pakistan to "abuse" his office for this "criminal act".
He said that bar associations, including the Pakistan Bar Association, were also against the referral and the government respected their views and decided to withdraw the referral.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister tweeted that the passage of the Supreme Court Practices and Procedures Bill by Parliament in 2023 will strengthen the Supreme Court institutionally.
After the approval of this very important bill in the Senate on Thursday, Shabaz Sharif said that this bill "helps the transparency and comprehensiveness of the proceedings and implementation of paragraph 3 of Article 184 and serves the purposes of justice." He said. Assembly on Wednesday night.
